Bulk Material Transport:-
This CoalTran vehicle is for the
transport of 50 Tonnes of coal. For other products, the middle, rotating bin is resized to suit the
density of each - iron ore, grains etc.
Currently coal, in particular, is typically transported in open top railway wagons and trucks which results in
product loss through windage during transit. This loss can be up to 17% in some instances.
The hinged lid prevents this loss (and pollution) as well as protecting the product from the weather.
This shows the product discharge sequence at 1350 rotation of the bin.
This shows the same rotation from the other side with the track moved laterally to allow the bin to rotate.
This shows the bin at 1800 rotation when the bin will be totally emptied.
Two detailed case studies have been prepared for the transport of coal from five proposed mines in
the Galilee Basin in Queensland. The first is to transport coal to a new coal loading facility at Abbot Point near Bowen (there are existing coal loading
facilities here).
The second is for the same five mines but with the coal being transported to a new port and coal loading
facility near Karumba in the Gulf of
Carpentaria.
