MonoCab VRT Rapid Transit System

MonoCab VRT Rapid Transit and the Bush:-

Just imagine the advantages (social, cultural, health, commerce etc.) afforded to rural communities with a MonoCab VRT service providing fast, safe, 200 km/h, all weather access to other nearby cities and towns having services their community lacks.

Someone living in, for example, the Longreach area, could go to Rockhampton for the day.  See their medical specialist, do some shopping, go to the beach, perhaps see the latest movie before heading home at 9:00 pm without any concerns about hitting a kangaroo or dodging road trains.  They could even get some sleep on the way.

The graph and table below show some trip time comparisons.

We acknowledge the use of the RACQ (Royal Automobile Club of Queensland)
Trip Planner in the preparation of these comparisons.

Water Harvesting:-

A huge advantage for rural communities will be the harvesting of potable water by the sails under the tracks.  For each 100 mm of rain, these sails will collect 80,000 litres  (17,582 gallons) of water per kilometre of track.  This water will be of the same quality as these residents now collect in their tanks and use every day. These rural areas also regularly experience dew falls which would also be captured.

Flood Proofing:-

The MonoCab VRT rapid transit system will flood proof the many communities (e.g. North Queensland,) which are cut off by flood waters for extended periods during the wet season.  The MonoCab VRT rapid transit track will be erected above flood level ensuring all weather access.

This would be of particular advantage in a medical emergency and would be a great adjunct to the Flying Doctor service.  Perhaps each community would retain a car that was fitted out as an ambulance to cater for any situation.

Revitalising Rural Towns:-

For many years, there has been a worldwide trend for population movement to the larger cities for their employment, educational, social and recreational opportunities and benefits.  This trend has placed a great strain on public infrastructures such as transport, water and sewerage.  It has also created a significant rise in property values in the larger centres with the result that home ownership is now out of the reach of a great many Australian families.

The MonoCab VRT rapid transit solution will revitalise many towns that are now slowly dying or enable the creation of new satellite cities/towns within reasonable proximity of major centres.  A 100 km journey to work or play will only take 30 minutes utilising the high speed (200km/h) MonoCab VRT.  Many commuters already now spend much more time than this on a daily basis.

This decentralisation will enable more families to enjoy the great Australian dream of home ownership as well as reduce the rate of property value increases in the cities.
